Crazy???

Well maybe a bit but I do love to play in the snow with the grand kids when I get the chance. So we had to do a challenge at the Flying Unicorn about winter with a twist, we had to add something that had nothing to do with winter. I decided to use last week's Monday Mojo sketch for my layout.

I found some beautiful snowflake SVG's online that I downloaded and cut with my Cricut, then I added some Diamond Dust to them.  I found a cardinal graphic in my gigantic graphics folder and printed it on heavy cardstock then I fussy cut it.  I used a Tattered Angels glimmer mask and some yellow Gelatos for the circles on the corner of my photo.  Red, yellow and white Gelatos to the left of my photo, misted it and then brushed it.  Then I added a nice thick layer of Gesso to the bottom left of my photo, stuck my  cardinal in the Gesso to give it a snowy look.  Popped a bunch of holly berries in where I had torn my paper and called it a Crazy layout.   The bright yellow was my non winter item.

Another challenge was to use one word as our title. It was to sum up the year 2012. I decided to use the word "together". During 2012 we had a lot of things happen to us. Things that required a lot of strength, courage and faith. But between the two of us, it made things much more bearable and together we faced everything and together we were bigger than all our problems.

I lifted this layout straight from the Glitz website.  I loved the simplicity of it. I added a new technique that I have just learned.  Popping bits of paint here and there and then combing it first one way and then the other way.  I like this technique and will be using it again.

Another challenge was to make a tag or a card using bright bold colours. I made a card but I don't like it although the ladies of the Unicorn seemed to like it.

First I spread a layer of Gesso (if you haven't figured it out yet, Gesso is a mainstay  in my craftroom).  I then put a couple of strips of Tattered Angels mistable crepe paper across the Gesso and gave it a little more Gesso. I misted it with blue ink while it was still wet. Then while it was yet still wet I stamped it a couple of times with a flower stamp.

Once it was dry I mixed Glass bead gel with yellow Gelatos (they are awesome) then using a Tattered Angels mistables screen I put on the border. I stamped the blue flower with Inka Gold steel blue. The bird was stamped with Tim Holtz Distress markers.

Yeppers, did another challenge too :) So proud of myself today LOL
This challenge was to make a card using the same stamped image three times as the focal point of the card. Once again I had me some fun playing with Perfect Pearls. I rubbed Perfect Pearls rust into my card with my finger. Also into the cardstock that I cut the butterfies from. I used Perfect Pearls red on the flower.  Sorry I can't remember which ones I used on the butterflies that I stamped.

ahhhhhhhhhh yes my art journal. I haven't been forgetting that either. That is a slow process though because I dabble in that and keep changing things around and have to wait for each layer to dry.. nope don't like that so gesso over it and start again...etc. etc... I did get this page finished and like the outcome. There is no way that I remember what all I did to this page I remember crackle paste, gesso, glass bead gel and gelatos... over and above that or in which order they went on or where they went... well that is stored somewhere in my memory that will never be known LOL
