Laughing out Loud!!

You know this idea of a blog is not working out to great for me. I keep forgetting about it. I do have wonderful intentions but that is as far as it gets.

We had a wonderful month of challenges over at the sisterhood. Colleen gave us some terrific challenges and I managed to get them all done.

First of all there was this month long challenge where she gave us an item each day to add to the layout and the last day of January we got to reveal our layouts. It was great fun and I really enjoyed doing it. However, I have to say that towards the end of the month I was getting worried as to where I was going to add anything else LOL

Here is my completed layout. I am very happy with the way it turned out. I was also surprised with how much stuff you can put on a single layout LOL.

January 17, 1882-Leroy Firman received a patent for the telephone switchboard. This layout needs to have some kind of weaving on it
For this challenge, I used our christmas family photo.

January 19, 1915 Doublemint gum was trademark registered. For this layout please use 2 of something not just once but twice. They don't have to be the same thing.

For this layout I used a photo of the children under the christmas tree.

January 23, 1849 a patent was granted for an envelope marking machine. Let 's see some kind of envelope on your layout, card or altered item.

This was a tough one for me because I rarely use envelopes on a layout. I used a picture of each of the children opening their gifts from Missi.

January 24, 1871, Charles Goodyear, Jr. patented the Goodyear Welt, a machine for sewing boots and shoes. Of course, this layout, card or altered item needs to have some sewing on it.

I got back to my Toronto vacation photos for this layout and I used my Sew Easy for the sewing part.

January 29, 1924, Carl Taylor of Cleveland, patented a machine that made ice cream cones. Ice cream cones h ave layers and layers of ice cream so let's see at least 5 layers on your layout, card or altered item.

I really hate it when a challenge calls for lots of layers because I am not good with using layers. However, I perservered and came up with this layout.

Cotton pads were first invented around the early 1970s. The first
patents for the invention date from 1973, claimed as a new invention for
face and nail cleaning and a substitute for cotton swabs.

Okay, so she's getting tougher.. that woman can really bring on the tough challenges. Took me a few days to wrap my mind around this one but once again I was able to think of something.. wasn't happy with the results but at least I got it done.

In 1902, the first air (temperature and humidity) conditioning was in operation. So let's see a card made with a
snowflake on it. It has to be more than one snowflake, I want to see snow and an all white card with one small accent color.

Thank heaven's that this was the last one because she is getting tougher and tougher to do but I have to admit that I was really pleased with the way this one turned out.

Now we are into February and it is my turn to issue the challenges. So this month we are using a theme that is near and dear to my heart. It is Heart and Stroke month, so all the challenges will be geared to Heart and Stroke. Also I am not as creative as Colleen so the challenges won't be half as hard as Colleen's were :)

Since the first week was only half a week, there were only two challenges posted.

Challenge 1-- Eat well to maintain a healthy heart.
For this challenge do a layout that has food on it.

Challenge 2-Get Active
This challenge we would like you to do a layout about sports (swimming, at
the beach or something like that)

This week there are three challenges posted.

Challenge 3-Reduce Stress
Let’s see you doing a layout with distressing on it. This distressing
should be clearly noticeable.

Challenge 4-Cook Healthy Recipes
Of course with recipes we need ingredients, so please use these ingredients
on your layout.

a. red
b. black
c. ribbon
d. stitching
e. buttons
f. flowers

Back to my Toronto vacation photos LOL

Challenge 5-Preventable
80% of heart disease and strokes are preventable, so create a layout using
80% cardstock.

We are also playing some games and will have a couple of tutorials coming up so why don't you just drop by and join in the fun? Sisterhood
